World Citizens Assembly

(December 2001)

- Gathering four hundred participants in a fair representation of the different regions of the world and the different socioprofessional spheres, it was the prefiguration of a Parliament of the planet.

- In it, the 60 Proposal papers drawn up in the framework of the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and United World were discussed in order to identify priorities for change common to all, and to outline a strategy of change for the twenty-first century.

- A Charter of Human Responsibilities was discussed there as well, and amended, in view of establishing it as an indispensable third international reference text alongside the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Charter of the United Nations.
